Skilled hands. Salient goals. Real results.

Why Salience NeuroRehab

Salience NeuroRehab was founded on a simple belief — that when therapy is built around what matters most to the individual, the brain responds. What does Salience mean? The term "salience" means importance. When something is salient and important to the individual the brain starts with developing neuroplasticity. If the brain pays attention to an activity or task that it finds important and of interest, then the brain starts learning at a faster rate which promotes and causes neuroplasticity.

A Letter From Our Founder

Melanie Lindauer, CEO, OTR/L, C/NDT

When I founded Salience NeuroRehab in July 2022, I did it with one conviction at the center of everything: that people recovering from a neurological injury or condition deserve expert, specialized, one-on-one care — and that they shouldn't have to leave their community to find it. Having grown up in this community, I chose to build both my family and my business here because of my deep connection to and love for the people and place that have shaped me.

I am an occupational therapist, and I have spent my career walking alongside individuals as they work to regain function, independence, and quality of life after stroke, brain injury, Parkinson's disease, and other neurological conditions.

Over the years, I saw the same pattern again and again. Too often, individuals recovering from neurological conditions were told that the advanced, specialized care they needed was only available an hour or more away in a larger city. For someone already managing fatigue, mobility challenges, or the demands of recovery, that distance isn't a minor inconvenience — it's a barrier that can stand between a person and their fullest potential. I founded Salience to remove that barrier: to bring specialized neurological rehabilitation close to home, paired with the individualized attention that genuine recovery requires.

That belief shapes how we practice. At Salience NeuroRehab, there is no one-size-fits-all protocol. Every treatment plan is built around the individual — their goals, their condition, their life. We combine evidence-based practice with specialized neurological expertise and a commitment to compassionate care, and we treat the whole person and their family, not just a diagnosis.

Above all, I believe that every individual has the capacity for growth, recovery, and improved function when given the right tools, the right support, and truly specialized care. That belief is why Salience exists, and it's the promise we make to every patient who walks through our doors.

I would be honored to be part of your recovery journey.

With care,

Melanie Lindauer
